Dr John Hinwood
John was a force of nature. He was a powerhouse, tireless in his caring, an inspiring leader in chiropractic, an adventurer, and a brilliant husband, father and friend.
His work helped thousands of practitioners around the world, and his spirit continues to shape everything we share at Light Now.

A life fully lived
John began his career as a high school teacher in Australia, England and South Africa before discovering chiropractic. From then on, he and Judy built a life of adventure, family and service, side by side.
1960s: Teaches high school in Australia, England and South Africa.
1969–1973: Travels the world with Judy, off the beaten track. They go overland from Australia through Asia to Europe, spend time in Eastern Europe and Russia during the Cold War, drive a Land Rover across Africa, and travel throughout South America and the Caribbean.
1973: Arrives in Toronto, Canada, to study chiropractic.
1978: Returns to Australia with Judy, and together they open practices in rural and then metropolitan communities, beginning in Foster, NSW.
1985: John and Judy adopt three children, Shavela, Ignacio and Rodrigo, from Chile.
1991: Co-founds Powerful Practices with Judy and becomes its CEO and Principal Mentor.
In our hearts forever
John passed away in October 2020 from mesothelioma caused by asbestos. Ironically, the exposure came from renovating our first Australian practice in Foster, NSW.
He is so missed, but I am deeply grateful to have been the wife he loved for so long. — Judy
